I didn't know any of that when I played the game and, yet, I still enjoyed it. When I eventually found out about the child kidnapping it was just a detraction from my fun. And, to me, TFoR was just Ender's Game lite.
For me it was very easy occupying the green armour. I got to land on a beautiful ring world and explore it. The things the Chief was asked to do fit in with what I wanted to do in the game and the game world.
