: What doesn't add up is Bungie's hatred of Helljumpers. Come on, they
: incorporated ODSTs into the very next game and then wrote a game about
: them later. That doesn't sound like the writing team hated the concept. It
: sounds like whoever Trautmann was wrangling with was a complete asshole.
I think timing matters. Trautman and Nylund were pitching Helljumpers before the publication of TFoR. Opinions can change when you see how much the fans took to them.
Today, "you're an idiot". Tomorrow, "Oh we thought that was a good idea all along."
: Cross-reference Halo Wars. On the surface it was all buddy-buddy "Yeah,
: Ensemble Studios are a bunch of cool guys so we're just letting them do
: whatever", but an ES employee later confirmed that some (Not all)
: within Bungie thought that Halo Wars was a naked cash grab that cheapened
: the franchise.
: What really gets to me are the comics. The Halo Graphic Novel was Bungie's
: fifth comic tie-in, yeah? All the previous comics were done back when they
: were an independent studio publishing games for the Mac. In other words,
: they didn't have a publisher breathing down their neck for tie-in content,
: but it happened anyway. I honestly can't believe that they'd be that
: ignorant of the industry. "We're Microsoft, we can get whoever we
: want" sounds like the kind of guy who utterly wrecked the Halo movie
: project.
Thinking he could buy Alan Moore... :-)
: Long story short: There's obviously some assholes working for Bungie, but I'm
: not going to take Trautmann's word as gospel.
What does he gain by lying?
