Heh, it was an 'okay' design. :)
I just think it's possibly to be a creator and still meet a big market demand without losing the souls of your characters, even characters that are known as sex symbols. I think creators need to try harder, even if the market seems to be stuck in its ways.
Take James Bond for example. Daniel Craig is given plenty of opportunities to lounge around in his impressive speedo, but also plenty of depth to his hard heart, especially in Casion Royale - he can be rough, funny, mean, romantic, horribly depressed, and horribly angry. And I think that sells him even better, because he elevates what could be a simple action movie to something a little more meaningful, which in turn, makes the action more thrilling and passionate.
Another example from recent memory: Dark Knight Rises's Catwoman. She's still plenty sexy and plays homage to the classic 60's Catwoman sex symbol, but she also has dreams, strengths, weaknesses. So I think it's possible to be fun and sexy in both genders, without compromising their characters. And you don't see those kinds of characters upsetting people, you see people cosplaying as them, wanting to be them. I mean Game of Thrones has tons of nudity and sex scenes, but also some of the coolest characters, male and female, on TV!
