: He (Ellis) is a customer, when it comes to MGS. Does he not have the same

: I'm staying out of this particular kerfluffle, because I don't really see
: video game art design as commentary on our societal problems... but
: basically what you're saying here is "if you work in the industry,
: you're not allowed to have public opinions about anything in the
: industry." That seems... unfair.
My position seems unfair but I see this leading to endless finger pointing by developers at other developers' products. Imagine how distracting and painful that would be.
I agree he has an opinion as a customer but he is not just a customer. He is a professional in the game industry and I am of the opinion he should not cross the line and disparage another developer's game. If he has a global dislike for deliberate sexualisation of game characters then fine, he should carry that torch. He shouldn't have just singled out one game off the cuff.
He knew he was crossing the line and that is kind of at the core of my comments. His behavior in this instance does not seem professional to me.
I'm sure he's not the first to do this but most professionals I've taken notice of, usually politely refrain from saying much about another developers' game.
