Well, we could also keep in mind that being an Xbox One game announcement event, and not inherently a Halo announcement event, its presence here really was to build hype for Halo.
Note it wasn't a Halo 5 announcement. It was simply "Halo". This could be their way of demonstrating where Halo is going and what they can do with Halo, briefly, with this little teaser intro.
That seems more likely in my mind. I'm sure a Halo 5 announcement is still to come... :P
