: I used to savor every detail, be wowed at every announcement. And now I'm
: getting sequels announced when I feel like I've barely played the last
: one. Each game's lifespan and legacy will just keep getting smaller and
: smaller and requiring more and faster updates/dlcs/sequels to keep it
: fresh, when in effect, that approach is one of the things hurting it.
: We need a franchise that knows when to sleep and when it has a story and game
: worth building. But Microsoft isn't mindful of the long-term apparently,
: just the yearly profits. So in another 5 years it will fizzle out. Then
: maybe a few years after that it will get a reboot and things will go
: strong for a while again.
: Or maybe not. Maybe the next trailer will showcase some of the bold UNSC acts
: of daring I loved in the old days, the varied and intense colors of
: marines, aliens, and strange environments, and the designs and musical
: themes that brought me into this universe.
I will say that releasing Halo titles more frequently just seems to drive the player base away much faster, especially when you are overloaded with tons of DLC and content within the first few months, rather than over years.
However, I am glad that it won't be out for two years after Halo 4. I would've rather had the 3 year dev cycle, but hey, at least it's not coming out this year. Also, do we even know if this Halo 5 or not?
