: I used to savor every detail, be wowed at every announcement. And now I'm
: getting sequels announced when I feel like I've barely played the last
: one. Each game's lifespan and legacy will just keep getting smaller and
: smaller and requiring more and faster updates/dlcs/sequels to keep it
: fresh, when in effect, that approach is one of the things hurting it.
: We need a franchise that knows when to sleep and when it has a story and game
: worth building. But Microsoft isn't mindful of the long-term apparently,
: just the yearly profits. So in another 5 years it will fizzle out. Then
: maybe a few years after that it will get a reboot and things will go
: strong for a while again.
: Or maybe not. Maybe the next trailer will showcase some of the bold UNSC acts
: of daring I loved in the old days, the varied and intense colors of
: marines, aliens, and strange environments, and the designs and musical
: themes that brought me into this universe.
meh, I want more :)
Personally, I still have Halo 4, and all the previous games. I've finished their stories. I can take a new game. Doesn't make the previous titles any less special to me; I can still go back and enjoy their stories again.
For me, not playing videogames likely as often as most people, I don't feel a need/desire to savour a game for years before a new one in a series comes out. I just love the story, and the more story that comes - quality story at least - the better. (IMO ;)
If the release schedule is known to be the cause of quality downfall, then I'll have an issue with so much so fast. But I'm not that disappointed yet. This trailer isn't enough for me to want them to hold off - quite the opposite; it's intrigued me and got me excited again (though it probably has a lot to do with wanting to know how XBO will improve the Halo 'experience' :)
