But when an another tells me a story, and they tell me it's from a specific persons of 'X' sex\race\creed then that is the perspective I'm going to try to view it from. I'm not going to read Things Fall Apart and then lament that why couldn't it have been told from the perspective of a woman of a different color.

At some point, canon wise, things were defined about a couple of ambiguous characters, and you don't agree with it. Most of us don't either. Reboots. Rewrites. Deboots.

That's what happens in franchises.

That's fandom.

There are LEGIONS of Star Wars and Alien(s) fans who can empathize.

It's not just videogames. It's all media. There is nothing that needs understanding other than the only thing that motivates them to change is money. If they can't make money on it, they don't care. In an ironic way, it means media treats everyone equally, like garbage. Unless there is money to be made, that is.
