: I really wished they had made Six Halo's first character who didn't
: identify and wasn't known strictly as either a man or a woman and instead
: didn't adhere to one gender over another. Kinda makes those whose Six was
: a woman feel like their story in Reach wasn't as important in the long
: run. Not giving Six a binary gender could have made everyone happy and
: left their gender ambiguous to allow for a true reflection of the player
: in a character.

As of when the first Visual Guide came out, it was decided then that although the game allowed the player the choice, that the fiction had to decide one way or the other as to the character's gender. I imagine it was because of things like this coming up where it is addressed.
