Not at all. I'm arguing that there are more and more games, especially high-profile titles, which represent queer people in a tasteful, respectful light, just as there are many more games that do the same for women.
Mass Effect is an amazing example of this. Kickass women and queer relationships without scrutiny. Bisexuality and pansexuality isn't erased and thrives through the evolution of some characters in later games.
Yes, video games have a long way to go to better represent women, people of color, queer people, and a combination of the three. What I love most is that there are developers at small and large studios alike who are all trying to create more representation. All they have to do is try and many are. Players have a responsibility to demand it and criticize developers who refuse to do this, as well as those critics who tell them to shut up.
