Dude, it's like night and day for me. I spent some time fidgeting around with Halo 5 Forge and failing miserably at the simplest tasks. After accidentally grabbing and then deleting something (because I was trying to duplicate a piece and still kept thinking Delete was on Y and not on D-pad, and I hit the wrong damn direction), I immediately quit, booted up the MCC, went into H2A's Forge, and had already completed the top floor of "Washout" (a Space Out remake on Washout) in something like 30-45 minutes. I even had to redo some of it because the L-shaped building from Halo 4's Impact wasn't in H2A, but I quickly figured something out. I hadn't messed with Forge in months except to fix some issues with Death Race II, yet I quickly got back into the groove.

I'm growing increasingly frustrated with Halo 5 in general. I can't stand the new Forge controls, the core gameplay itself still hasn't grown on me, and I'm merely tolerating it at this point. The Campaign is fine, but not so great as to be something I can replay frequently like I can with Halo 1 or 2's Campaigns.

Really, Halo is starting to feel that friend you once enjoyed spending a lot of time with, but you started to drift apart over the years because his interests and activities changed—interestingly at the same time he got a new live-in girlfriend—and now you have little in common with him.

I'm probably going to take a break from Halo for a while and focus on finishing other games. I may still occasionally play some Halo 1 Campaign or MCC multiplayer, but that's about it. Halo 5 is getting shelved for a while. I did the same thing with Halo 4 where I once stopped playing for several weeks the December after it came out because I just couldn't deal with the frustrations. Even after I came back, I never played as often as I used to. I played Halo 2, 3, & Reach nearly daily. In the two years between Reach and Halo 4 I played over 3000 matches online, not including Customs or Firefight. For Halo 4, I only amassed 1036 games in Matchmaking by time the MCC was released. Not because of lack of time, but because I didn't have the desire to play as often. Excluding the several months it was broken, I spent more time on average playing the MCC's multiplayer than I ever did playing Halo 4's. After 250 matches and nearly 45 hours sunk into Halo 5's multiplayer, I'm already getting burnt out. Forge's controls have only compounded my ever-growing frustration with this game. So yeah, I think a hiatus from Halo 5 is in order.
