There's a reason, it's so you can add and paint selections without moving your hands.

The fundamental problem is that Bungie's Forge treated the Monitor like a vehicle you piloted. That made sense for the originally conceived mode of slight tweaks to maps and running around shooting others and dropping tanks. But from the standpoint of map editing, it has and was deficient.

There are certainly issues I have with the new Forge, but complaining that it doesn't work like the other one when the new one allows so much more power and flexibility is like complaining that the newest version of some software changes keyboard shortcuts and breaks your own workflows. Well, yeah. The whole point is that they improve things, and that means nothing can stay exactly comfortable like you had it before.
