It was never more apparent how far things have fallen than when I played about 10 games of H3 multiplayer 6 months ago. Immediate impact. Immediate fun. Immediate yearning. I get the same thing when watching H3 MP videos.

So, returning "back to roots" seems like a good idea. I guess I'll wait to see how it all plays out. I'm not ready to dismiss 343 after one average Halo just like I didn't dismiss Bungie after Reach. Halo is 13 years old - I wonder how 343 can innovate without pissing off the purists, and how they can stick close to old comforts without pissing off progressives.

Bungie cleaned the slate, and thus expectations. 343 does not have that ability.
