: I'm not using "justification" to mean simply
: "reason", I'm using it to mean "just
: reason", where just is something which is not
: overall harmful to the known whole. That's a key thing
: in my definition there, "known whole": both
: the Light and the Dark are acting in the best interest
: of what they know to be the whole - the Light doesn't
: recognise any beings worthy of consideration amongst
: the Dark, and the Dark sees the Light as a force which
: is harmful to the rest of them.

I'm not committed to a definition of 'justification,' so I'll go with whatever you want to pack into it. I submit you can STILL be justified (i.e., have reasons and be not harmful to the overall whole) and be evil.

As I played the Myth games, I wasn't thinking--boy, the Dark is evil because they're acting without reason! And they're harming the overall whole! And they're not evil simply because they oppose me. They're evil because they make evil choices and act in evil ways.

Evilness is not a matter of (simply) lacking justification. So it doesn't get the Dark off the hook for being evil to load them up with some kind of justification. It's just not the right key for the lock.

Now, I could be wrong about the Dark being evil, but it wouldn't be from discovering they were actually justified that I would come to that conclusion.
