: I am not against this feature at all. I am just trying to understand what it
: was. I would be against it had it only been a super demo. I love what it
: was actually going to be. I'm just trying to understand the logic behind
: it from a "Worst case scenario" point of view. It just makes no
: sense to put so many restrictions on games (You can only sell them 1 time,
: and then the person is stuck with it) just to implement a system that
: allows 10 of your online friends to play the game. I know it's not at the
: same time, but still. 10 friends can play that 1 game, with potentially
: more being added to your list later down the road. It just seems worse
: than used games from the perspective of the company. Maybe I'm just not
: seeing something blatantly obvious, but they didn't do a great job
: explaining the feature and if it had ANY restrictions other than the 1
: person at a time rule. Besides, I don't mean that you have Jeff play the
: game Monday, you Tuesday, etc. I mean that if you buy Mirrors Edge 2 and
: then finish it, you could then add Jeff to your Family and let him finish
: it, then add a secondpperson and let them finish it, then another and
: another. Just repeat the process until all 10 people have finished the
: game. Now 10 people have finished the game for the price of 1 disk. I know
: EVERYONE won't have the time to set this kind of thing up, but it's a heck
: of a lot better to wait until your friend has finished the game so that
: you can play it for free instead of paying $60 to buy it at launch or
: paying to buy it used from them. The whole system doesn't make sense form
: the perspective of a company that wants to make money off of it.
How is this any different from what we can do this generation? I beat Mirrors Edge 2 and drop it in the mail and send it to you. You beat it and send it to Louis Wu. That is exactly the 'loophole' you're describing, but we can do it with snail-mail today. Microsoft was just going to allow us to do it with digital titles, too.
If the 5th or 10th person in the chain can wait 6+ months for his turn, he gets to play the game for free. If he can't wait that long, he'll go out and buy it himself.
