There wasn't a rumour. It was a liar on pastebin. People/gaming news sites were duped and kept feeding the same bullshit to each other. My opinion of Kotaku just went up a notch today when Tortilo admitted being fooled and posted a retraction.

MS never once said family sharing of games was a demo mode. It was full use within the limitations of sharing. Anything else was fantasies made up in people's heads.
