: Naturally, since I have yet to hear that MJ has the
: design documents, my inference is that Scott is
: probably wrong here. :-)

Seeing as it was already cleary mentioned, your skeptism loses a lot of argument.

: If he does have the documents, then he's certainly
: entitled to pass judgment on GURPS insofar as it
: conflicts with those documents. Still, MJ is modifying
: and extending the story to fit a new product just as
: Seabolt was, and their estimate of how much more
: faithful their fit is than Seabolt's is not fact, but,
: as Santa says, an opinion. An informed opinion if they
: have the design docs, but an opinion nonetheless.

Just as it is your opinion that canon material in anything must relate directly to the original creators, which it does not in most cases; Myth 1 to 2 was rare as far as such enterprises go. Passing such judgement on Myth 3 is unsupported and absurd.

: So if Scott actually jumped out and said "Yes, we
: have the design docs, and GURPS conflicts with them
: here, here, here and here," I'd rank GURPS as
: still canon-worthy, but below Myth III (and therefore
: below everything.)

I agree with you, maybe, that Myth III could be below everything if the only canon material for Myth includes Myth I, its manual, Tales, Myth II, its manual, Myth III, and its manual, plus the extraneous GURPS.
Now, your reasoning, always reasonably logical, is that canon material can only be from the original creators, despite the fact this almost never works in any sort of practice *anywhere* in productions. From your standpoint, it is as if the Bungie team already wrote a story for Myth III in full before they died. This did not happen, so there is nothing for Myth III to contradict with because none of them speculated on the story any more than the original design documents; or, if they did, that information has been rendered lost and is moot. Even if they did, this is the equivalent of pre-release information, which is also irrelavant in the idels of canon.
This makes Myth III, especially with all legal information that was passed to it, a perfect and utterly true next game in the Myth series. Our canon before the advent of Myth III relied primarily on the two games, Myth I and II. Myth II was considered canon over Myth I because things were changed in Myth II to promote continuity. Since I have fully proven that Myth III is just the same kind of sequel as any by Bungie, its canon actually reigns supreme. Since we DO know that MJ has the design documents and DO know that Scott (the representative of MJ, which holds control over what is and isn't about Myth) thinks GURPS contradicts them, GURPS ends up being below them all ::remembers the time when GURPS was considered canon over the games…::. This is absolutely irrefutable proof, just like you couldn't refute my last point of such a designation.

I am not fully rejecting GURPS, however. I will continue in a new thread since my neck is hurting from looking all the way over and down here.
