In Response To: Re: Undead Fallen *PIC* (Archer »–)›)

: True; the Fallen must do what Balor says, and the minions
: not under Balor must do what the Fallen say.

: True.

: That's right; Fallen only means the Fallen Lords. There
: is no difference in terms.

: Unlife = death, nothing more. That's what it means, the
: absense or opposite of life, being death. It is not a
: truly different term for a form of undeath, for it
: means only death by self-conviction. Since it is only
: mentioned once in the game, it is generally
: irrelavant.

at this point, my interpretation on the un-state is in the air right now, i just acknowledge its existence and do not any longer make any speculate specific to it and its consequences unless it refers to shades, or Fallen Lords directly.

: Read my post about Undeath. It may make things easier to
: understand. A preserved half-unlife state thing you
: propose is generally pointless, and I suggest you
: abandon it.

"generally pointless"? "abandon it"? what if i scoffed off your theories and remarked that you should abandon them? i don't, instead i have a healthy debate... in fact, his state i believe he exists in is not a "half-unlife" at all... it's life, but frozen in the sense due to his lack of heart and unknown ritual. and on the contrary... it does have a point, which is to explain all of soulblighter's living characteristics to combine them with the former healing defect.

: Why?

because i believe it... it makes sense to me. just like how your theories make sense to you.

: How do you know there hasn't been? Mutilation is always
: or often used in necromancy, for whatever reasons.

the mutilation of soulblighter is different: if you call "rotting" in a thrall "mutilation" you must remember that most thralls have no flesh to begin with before being renaimated... then how can you call *adding* flesh mutilation? and the soulless processmight leave them without legs in the first place... we don't know if their legs are removed *after* the casting. why would that make them float? they'd just be cripples. but the mutilation of soulblighter is different in every way and self-inflicted.

: Thrall are made first then burried at strategic spots to
: pop up from their waiting-places. They can't really
: chase after enemies, so an ambush is useful. They're
: not without its rites in creation either.

i don't know if the ghasts in Salvation were created first then put Back six feet under... i think the spell becomes active in the corpse when an enemy gets to a certain range: then it pops out and attacks. the rest of thrall are just made then and there, and come out to join the others. but again, we have absolutely no evidence either of us is right and probably never will unless Myth III answers us.

: About every model in Myth.

hahah... we're talking about units... um, not models and walls and scenery

: Nor could Balor. He had a magical suit. Equally simple
: magical processes can be used. Everyone has different
: tastes and different abilities in the archmage world;
: they are also very creative, so they taylor spells and
: rites to themselves, as I have a style of cloathing I
: like to wear.

i can see what you mean, but soulblighter appears too different to be unliving to me. i've never believed he was because of his lack of all other undead characteristics. and i still will unless Myth III says otherwise. the upcoming game is the final authority on these things :)

: What? Shades could be healed to death in TFL too. They
: were fixed by m2; simple as that.

if shades could be healed in TFL, then by myth II soulblighter would have discovered a way to reverse it and passed it on to the M2 shades, no healing damage at all for either. it still makes sense.

: Just say "Blank Evil Spirit" then. It
: elliminates confusion.

okay :D

: Absolutely right. Refer to my big argument I made with
: myself over five posts about GURPS.

i think me and you doubt GURPS on the same level :D

: That's right.

and i also think we trust MIII on the same level also :D

: Tu chet. (is that the spelling?)

no clue about spelling french words :)

: No, Rabican killed her, as anyone else is killed, by
: separating body from soul. Her soul remained intact
: because it is of an archmage (or perhaps all souls
: remain in the Ζther). We don't know what Tramist's
: Mirrio did.

the afterlife of the Myth people is the one dream it appears but that is GURPS speculation mostly. but if it is right, then your theory about the ether doesn't come off sounding correct. *plus* the removal of the soul doesn't mean death as a complete end, it makes soulless. you have to kill the body and cease it's life functions for death but because we cannot know what happened during that dream duel, we don't know if her body was destroyed as well. if i remember, in the comic, rabican sensed she was still there at the end, so he didn't kill her, just defeated/negated/nullified her.

: I don't get why this is a problem. The perspective we
: have in playing the game is 3rd party. How do we know
: the Ghτl names? I doubt the soldiers ask for them in
: battle, or know them from before hand. Those names are
: niceties for us which the actually soldiers have no
: idea about.

yep, but *we* know it was the mazz shade, a minor character retaining no more importance than cormorant, regardless who the body once belonged to.

: That's irrelavant. WE were the only ones who saw his
: name.

that's what i am saying, why Mazz doesn't need some kind of intro.

: The Journal is not necessarily complete. We are only
: presented with some of it, most likely. We also have
: the perspective of an ignorant soldier via the
: Narrator, not of Alric. Alric kept The Last Battle
: plans secret too until the end. He doesn't let
: everyone know everything.

so perhaps the intro that sili wanted was simply left out of the journal? what can i say, he was there, you killed him.

: But it wasn't a different word, and they don't have TVs
: to see people. "Seeing" also means actually
: meeting more than only "read about" in any
: time. It is definitely true that the two, Sinis and
: Alric, met in some incarnation or another during the
: Wind Age.

definitely true? it appears to be only one of the many removed plot arcs. removed plot arcs aren't true; they could have been but their unimplemented state makes them non-canon, at least until some solid evidence proves otherwise. plus it *could have been the shade mazz killing him; we just cannot know yet.

: Only Avatara are of the Nine, and vice versa.

there were more avatars other than the nine.

: Perhaps, but we won't know for sure until m3.

yep :)

: True, the manuals aren't necessarily accurate because
: they deal with information from the time in question.

: Yeah, but we don't really know. Bungie screwed up, IMO
: deliberately.

hmm i don't know about a screwup like leaving in Mazz's name on the common shade flavor text.

: It really is anyway.

which is why i say that though the TFL alric was technically matched to sinis in the game, if it were real, alric would have took him to school like he was paid to.

: Ah, but what we are presented with on screen is only an
: interpretation of an actual story. What we see are
: actors portraying things on a stage. Are trees really
: two-dimentional? No! Are there only eight sides to a
: person? Certainly not. Only what we see happens and is
: true. Gauge of powers is irrelavant if the two powers
: aren't opposed ingame.

it goes beyond simple things like the limited views of sprites or the single angles of most secenery: the characters themselves interact like actors portraying something that happened, yes, but the technical aspects of the game.

Look at the thrall monster tag in Myth II, it is not labeled as undead in its monster flags! but we all know they are undead.

: Nor to the contrary. You're making an assumtion on that?
: ASS • U & ME

the point is, because there is no hard evidence, just theories, to say otherwise, it is logical to have other thoughts, like mine.

: That requires too much complexity. It's simpler without
: such.

If we were debating to see which is simpler, we'd all just agree that "omg shades R evil pepl" and never post about them again. but instead we debate on all the possibilities and outcomes, and in the process have fun while doing so. i certainly wouldn't be here if i wasn't having fun! that's why i left yeegees's forum :D ::hope yeegs aint reading this::
