In Response To: Re: <--- yet another (Welly)

: I had already proved that "Fallen" can mean a
: "Fallen Lord" in a previous thread somewhere
: in this mess of a string, now I will quote to prove
: that "Fallen Lords" can mean
: "Fallen": "Fifteen of us are to stay
: now, perhaps to fight boredom instead of the Fallen
: Lords, and watch the bridge here for two days."

That's right. The term "Fallen" is only an abbreviation for "Fallen Lords"; nothing more.
"But Archie, then why do they say, 'We're gonna go fight the Fallen' when they are clearly only fighting undead hordes or their cohorts?"
Quite simple: Any army is almost always referred to by the name of its commander—Caesar versus Vercingetorix, Antony versus Octavian, Wellington versus Napoleon, Alexander the Great versus the World—in all of these cases, the actual people never actually fought with eachother. However, the actions of soldiers in battle are direct reflections of the desires of their commanders. Even more so is this the case in Myth where the commanders have direct control over the Dark minions.
The Fallen are the directly responsible figures for their armies; therefore, fighting the armies is fighting the Fallen themselves, for the armies are direct extensions of the Fallen.
"The Dark" referrs to all evil forces, it seems, especially militant ones. Fighting the Dark is fighting any of them.

: Clearly that narrator didn't expect to personally engage
: one of the six Fallen Lords.

Exactly.

: the above quote from Crow's Bridge shows us that
: "Fallen Lords" and "Fallen" can be
: interchangable, even though this is not the best idea
: all the time.

: now that that mess is settled, I will address this:
: Forrest and I believe soulblighter us alive and
: modified, and i speculate further that perhaps because
: soulblighter has no heart, he is in a kind of limbo
: like state (not unliving! not half-unliving! not
: undead! not half-undead! not three and a half quarters
: unliving plus nine and nine tenths undead! just
: living!).
: Archer and silicon dream believe he is unliving and
: modified.

I do not believe in the term "unliving" as Sili seems to put it. I know only undeath.

: our beliefs about GURPS are radically different in some
: ways and mirror reflections in others, but we have to
: agree on this at least: whatever happens in Myth III
: has to be treated as what happened in Myth II, as
: canon, and not MJ's interpretation of Bungie, rather
: MJ's completely valid *expansion* of Bungie's
: hopelessy messy plot.

Absolutely right, without a doubt.

: Myth three has 50 different new units (not just the same
: polygonal units with different attacks, no, all new
: polygonal units) and unknowable tons of scenery and
: other details. the work put into the gameplay, as it
: seems right now, scares us a little because we have
: doubts that the same amount of work is being pushed
: onto the story. am I right?

Not to worry! Scott said several times how well he's taking care of the story. Hell, he has the original design documents!

: sc [Scott Campbell] seems to be pretty confident that Myth III will answer
: our questions... he mentioned something like 'forums
: that talk about who is who' in clear reference to us
: here at the Asylum. i am informed that although some
: matters obviously won't be settled, we have to look
: again at GURPS's definition of dreams, because ghols
: have at least one dream power in MWA, and we doubted
: their ability to use magic at all... much less a
: Dream.

I'm not going back to GURPS again unless it's to check a person's source, or to review its in accuracy (the reason I bought it).

: therefore, dreams might not actually be what gurps says,
: but who knows, we'll just have to wait for my
: birthday, when Myth goes GM :)

: err at least when they release it for the public :P

Happy Unbirthday :-)
