Well, I helped define the Halo 2 cruiser as a Marathon-class. It didn't have to be much smaller than the next size up, just had to be smaller. They would have larger cruisers such as the Valiant-class at 4,980ft. These are no slouches of spacecraft. The smallest UNSC frigate is still much larger than Star Trek's classic Enterprise, which is a decent-sized ship.
