: I prefer the simple Pillar of Autumn as is customary in navies today. It
: denotes that it's legacy carries on unquestionably from ship to ship.
: The Halcyons were built long before the Covenant invaded human space and I'm
: sure nobody who welded her titanium plating together was around to see the
: war end. That class ended when the last hull left the shipyard. The
: retrofitted Autumn seemed like a ship entirely different from her sisters,
: and with her excellent record at Reach and Halo, I don't see why they
: wouldn't build their post-war heavy cruisers to her specs.
: I'd love to walk [fight] around in one of them again!
I feel like I graduated or something...my first post with an "Official Grizzlei Animated Gif"™ directed at me! :) Feel the love!
The Halo 1 cruiser was the refit remember. There was no need for the Reach redesign. I would have been fine with a graphics upgrade, but too much was changed. The new cruiser is what I see as the same sort of evolution of design as the old Halcyon to the Marathon...similar, but distinct.
I do heartily accept the new Autumn-class as a new cruiser in their own right. And like you, I do appreciate and approve the name to honor her most well known predecessor. :)
