: did was as poor in quality as the whole of Nightfall.

Not in terms of raw quality, perhaps, but they certainly did more damage to the characters and setting of Halo than Nightfall ever managed to. This is mostly because Nightfall exists in a self-contained bubble and leaves existing characters or storylines alone for the most part. The worst mistake they made with Traviss was allowing her anywhere near Onyx or the characters trapped there.

Not that the Traviss books would've been much better without the Onyx crew, but at least they would've been more tolerable.
