But I'm going to be pretty disappointed if that's the way it goes. Like you said in your other comment, death needs to be final to have weight. That's why I can't stand Superman: they kill the guy off, and he shows up 3 issues later like nothing happened. If the Joker is back in Arkham Knight I'm going to be mad, too.
Franchises fall into this pit of "everybody comes back to life all the time" because a franchise needs its characters to remain cohesive (and marketable). And that's a bad thing. I was honestly pretty happy that 343 killed off Cortana, because it gives John a chance for actual character progression, and it's a bold move.
But it looks like while John and Locke are fighting on NamekSanghelios, RoshiHalsey uses the Dragon Balls a reverse-engineered composer to resurrect GokuCortana.
