I kinda like PeteTheDuck's idea of ending a game when half a team leaves and not counting it for the loosing team. However, it shouldn't be counted for the full/near full team either. Why? Simple. Teams/friends/clans/groups will just enter as a over-sized team and have the friends on the other team quit so they can easily rank up etc. Cool idea but it'll not work.
If you are going to afk for more then 60 seconds, then just quit the game. It's only helping yourself and your team-mates in the end. Staying afk for more then that is royally screwing up the game for your team. There's no excuse.
JIP does in fact work. If you find yourself being placed in the same game after quitting once, then wait 60 seconds before tying again. Happened 6 times? I don't see it.
Do you have a large chance of being placed in on the losing side if you enter JIP? Yes. Is that a bad thing? Not always. Your team may completely turn the tied of the game. Heck you may end up joining just a few seconds after it started. Or a few seconds before it ends.
Not having to worry about your quitting team-mates is a plus in my book.
Here's one of my favorite experiences from a JIP game:
I joined a In-Progress as a Red (hate being Red) on Longbow where my team was down 20 or so kills and the Blues were only 3 or so kills from winning. They were using the vehicles to own the map. So I simply started with the Plasma Pistol and helped take out those pesky Blues. Got a few Doubles and a Triple kill and we almost won! Did I change the tide of the game alone? Of course not, a few others "Join In-Progress" players helped. But I did end up at the top of my team's leader board. ^_^ WOOT! We still lost but it was only by 2 kills!!
No one is going to be able to convince me that JIP doesn't work. I may have lost that game but my team has won others because of JIP.
Don't like it? Then Don't Play. And Stop Complaining About It.
