I think it sucks, and it sucks in a way that infects the rest of the game, because even if you change it so it doesn't happen, like in Team Throwdown, people still seem to act like they'll just get replaced, and AFAIK there's no punishment for quitting a non-join-in-progress game, so people can and will just up and leave and we're back where we started, only it's worse because now there's not even an expectation that people won't quit whenever they feel like it.
