Think of a game franchise as a food type (Chinese, Burger joint, etc), and there's only one establishment to eat at per food type.
If you get bad service, you might stop going to that establishment and try another rather than stick around waiting for the problem to be solved. I could, of course, stop playing Halo games and try OTHER games, but this is a franchise I've invested years in and would like to see continued in an optimal capacity. This is likened to that one Chinese place. Well great their service has started to drop, and I either stop eating Chinese food or I make a point to complain. It's an awkward situation with very little precedent. How do you respond to someone who's trying to work for you, who isn't doing the best of jobs, and there isn't an alternative to take your business to in a similar capacity?
