: Double agreed. The "we play it safe because too different might be scary
: for the CoD fans that we're trying to snag and retain" tactic was
: incredibly stupid, and in a way I'm glad that it failed. Hopefully they're
: not afraid to be different next time. You'd think that games like TF2 and
: other class-based shooters would have shown 343 that there is success to
: be found in the atypical. Looking forward to Halo 5 bringing something NEW
: to the table in terms of gameplay, if not map design.
I thought that Stasis Rifle was a neat concept, as it didn't do direct damage on its own but rather slowed down anyone in its area of effect. Also, the Suppressor should have been something similar to the Sentinel beam. The Scattershot, Light Rifle, and Boltshot were unnecessary. The incinerator was fine as-is, since its shots behaved much differently from rockets and fuel rods. They could have tweaked the Binary Rifle to be a bit more different from the typical sniper rifle. All the Promethean weapons could have also had a reload/overheat thing different from other weapons, perhaps having to hold the reload button down to charge them up. There was any of a number of ways they could have differentiated Promethean weapons from UNSC and Covenant weapons, but instead we got a Forerunner BR/DMR, Forerunner shotgun, Forerunner AR, etc.
