You're absolutely right. They didn't have to. (and I know I'm probably/unfortunately the only one one who feels this way, but) That's exactly the problem--they shouldn't have. I don't want them to. I'm the first person to admit, I love nostalgia--I play all my classic Sonic games on all their original (applicable) systems. But something like this is officially getting out of hand! There's nothing wrong with looking back, but you have to MOVE forward! Yes, they're giving us the old maps. Yes, they're giving us Campaign and Forge. Yes, they're giving us Halo 1-4 again. You know what that means?
That means instead of continuing on with the future of the Halo series(The Reclaimer Saga, any other misc. Halo spinoff games, Season TWO of Spartan Ops for once...) they're spending time, energy and manpower literally going in a circle. An admittedly very pretty circle, but a circle nonetheless.
Heh--I guess that would be appropriate given the name of this series...
But my(and I'm guessing mine alone) opinion is still the same--I never wanted this to begin with! One thing I know I'm NOT alone on is this--I don't play Halo to win(except I guess, in SWAT). I play to get clips for videos(which I don't even make any more, I suck) and for fun. Hell, I'm the guy that made Grandma's House, Stick Nation, Long Range and Assassination City.
(cue collective traumatized shudders from HBOers everywhere)
But all I see is small teams on competitive maps with nothing outside the box. Spider has a point about map choice, too...
: The ONLY reason I believe the remade maps are considered
: popular is because we aren't given a choice but to play them.
When Halo 4 first came out, we were literally given only four maps to choose from in each playlist.
Other than specific Playlists like Big Team Battle or Snipers or Infection, those 4 maps were Adrift, Abandon, Solace and Haven. Never saw ANY of the other maps on any other playlist the first several months. I remember I went to the Customs menu one time--I forgot exactly my purpose-but when I saw Erosion? I swear to all holy Christ, I seriously thought it was DLC. That map was shipped on-disc and had not been publicly featured for almost a year. The same can be said for Impact, but they eventually put that in. Long story short, hardcore multiplayer has always been the core focus for Halo games.
Remember the whole 'multiplayer/meal' controversy?
I think it's time we give the vegetables a chance.
