It's always interesting what's typed out from a phone versus a computer.
Sure, a lot of those maps are definitely unique, but fun is subjective. I've played many of those maps to death, and forgot about a few of them, especially Burial Mounds. Reading OP's list, I was like "Oh wow, I forgot all about that map." Played Halo 2 religiously back in the days.
If you run a business, and you only have limited resources (money, staff, etc.), are you going to make a map that most of the Halo community finds fun, therefore being more attractive and profitable, or a map that is more obscure that some of the community found fun? That's like them remaking some of Halo 4's worst maps, just because they were different.
Yeah, it would be cool if they revisioned an old "unique" map, but I totally understand and am happy with what they're doing. I mean, look at Sanctuary. Just look at it. I've got to add, props for them to trying to please every fan. The only real lesson I learned in high school though (I'm well past college now): If you try to please everyone, you may as well kiss your ass goodbye. Someone's going to be left out; someone's always going to be left out.
I agree that resources should be spent here and there on unique maps -- that's where I hope Halo 5 gets us new maps that take in their lessons of what elements compose a good map, versus a less desired map. New maps that are so good, we'll happily settle for just having Forged remakes.
