Look, in hit scan weapons the scope doesn't matter for shit- it's just there to help the player.
Unzoomed on a sniper, you can still cross-map kill someone, just with great, great difficulty.
I recall seeing a video years ago of the Spartan Laser on sand trap and it's effective range limit be tested. Essentially what happened is two players got on opposite ends of the map and the player with the laser, could not hit the player on the other side because the laser only shot for a certain programmed distance. It was pretty interesting to see actually, like an invisible wall was erected in front of the player, yet if they stepped 2 feet closer, they'd be melted.
See my other two replies- until we know the new programmed ranges and what weapons are and are not hit scan, scopes\sights\rails don't mean anything at this point beyond "ohh, pretty"
