To call Halo 2 Anniversary a cash grab and compare it to Halo 2 Vista is insulting. Halo 2 Vista you could call a failure only because at the point it was released Halo 3 was only mere months away and the PC community notoriously has a hate on for the Halo franchise.
The fact is Halo is losing popularity and it's not necessarily due to times changing or that they are bad games but because starting with Halo: Reach Bungie and then in turn 343 Industries started to chase the Call of Duty crowd with added gimmicks. The quality in multiplayer map design also began to drop with Halo 3 and myself personally Bungie began dropping the ball with the storyline in Halo 3 only to turn it up a notch with ODST and then just crashed and burned with Halo: Reach.

Halo 2 Anniversary is a chance to recapture that audience that Bungie and 343I began to lose sight of and I hope it includes both the campaign and original multiplayer + DLC packs as many others are hoping. If it's simply something your not interested then simply don't buy it and wait for Halo 5 or whatever the game is called.
