If there is one thing that I feel modern games need LESS of it's on screen hints, tricks, and reminders to press buttons to do stuff.

Sometimes the tension, trial & error , and reward when you pull off a move IS the fun.

Goddamn. Imagine if fighting games had that, running at the bottom of the screen, telling you how to pull off mad combos because the designers are scared the player is too stupid to figure out how to play.

I think it might be neat if it didn't have text based prompts. Maybe not even a prompt at all.

Games today are too easy, and essentially play themselves.
