Absolutely. Make no mistake, backwards compatibility is a real selling point in the first year or two of a console when the games library is limited.
Thus far, the game I've played most on the Wii U is The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess.
Though that kinda stopped after I tried Dolphin on the PC and could play it at 1080p with Insane Slug's HD texture pack.

lol... no, of course not. Prior to the Xbox 360, the only console I ever had fail on me is the original grey model Playstation, which had it's own reliability problems at the time, especially concerning the laser assembly.
The Mega-CD still works perfectly fine, despite being 20 years old at the end of the year.
As does the Sega Saturn which once had half a litre of Coca Cola spilt over it.
Of course, I switched to the Xbox 360 Slim model and I'm reasonably confident in its reliability if its looked after.
