I think what he's saying is the established value in sharing gameplay moments from the hardcore capture hound to the average joe, has been diminished (at least in SpOps and Campaign). Also, I would trust a $20 solution to something as complicated as video capture. My $150+ setup still has it's share of artifacting and foul ups I don't expect the common man to spend more than 15 minutes trying to fix. That's a lot of work and money to have the ideal set up for something interesting to happen in game.
