Yes. I was initially excited for Destiny but the way the world feels so artificially put together kind of killed it for me. That, and the lack of a proper storyline as well as the multiplayer centricity. It's ironic that when you go to great pains to manufacture your world to be accessible and exciting and something the player will want to spend time in it ends up feeling just like that: manufactured. Not a real, living world that exists on its own but a forgery that's cherry-picking cheap tropes to engross you. I don't think Halo is quite there yet -- it's still resting on the foundations built in the Bungie era, however flimsily that is -- but the same trends are definitely there. All this talk about years-long plans for the universe and the sort. I have a feeling Halo will be slipping more and more into a comfortable, stagnant status quo as time goes on while the more "inconvenient" aspects of past stories will be conveniently forgotten about.
