: I'm just at a point where I'm tired of watching people belittle a game that I
: feel is one of the best in the series, so I have to speak out about it. I
: respect your opinions... but continuing to post these ideas serves no
: positive purpose.
I've been one of 5 or so people who are here regularly sticking up for 343, so while I feel your frustration, that doesn't mean I think everything they've done this far is great. I didn't think everything Bungie did was great either, but no one cares about that because they've moved on now.
Good for you that you think it's one of the best in the series, and keep sticking to your guns.
I think what they are adding in this collection is definitely cool, and I think they are doing it the right way by (seemingly so far) only including that stuff in the 6 remastered maps, the 5th engine as Snipe calls it.
* Polish up Halo 2, but leave that experience as is, as it was. That makes the purists happy.
* Include the things that didn't make the cut the first time in the 5th engine, as a directors cut of sorts.
Just like in a movie re-release that has two versions- the theatrical and the directors cut. Together, but independent.
This indicates to me that they are good caretakers of the franchise.
But I still stick by the Gungoose being an unoriginal idea for the reasons mentioned earlier. Just because you can, doesn't mean you should and that's not how you balance factions, it's just repeating them.
Halo Wars is an awesome example on how different vehicles can be in the same class yet very very different.
Don't feel too bad. I applaud 343 for taking more risks creatively than Bungie for a lot of stuff.
And nothing I saw lessened my excitement for this game to ship.
