Did you read Silentium by chance?

The reason I ask is that I felt the same way until that trilogy was finished.

I don't want to spoil anything for you if you haven't (unless you want me to), but that book alone made almost everything in Halo 4's campaign make sense. It pretty much is required reading (at least it's a good book) to really understand the plot*.

(*No need to debate that's a bad thing- I agree 100%)
