I can't relate to someone who commits murder or a treasonous act, or even steals something, but I'm nevertheless able to derive insight or pleasure from their life stories. Some of my favorite characters have conducted themselves with behaviors prone to causing immoral acts. Doesn't mean I can't dig through their bad side to relate to them at the core, even if our personalities and values are worlds apart.
