: Reach
: The children are scared and they just want to go home. They cuddle for
: warmth, consoling each other, all wanting to be back with their families.
: Naomi remains confident that her father is out there and will rescue her.
: Days after their arrival on Reach, Catherine Halsey speaks with each of
: the children, informing them that their parents know where they are and
: support Halsey's decision - there is no rescue.
Read the book, enjoyed it, probably enjoyed reading this thread at least as much.
My question after all of this is...what did Jorge know? He clearly knew he was from Reach. He knew the local language, and he could match Hungarian dialects to the rural hamlets in which they were spoken. Assuming this knowledge came from his pre-Spartan life*, he probably could have figured out which town or region he was born in, if he wanted to. So did Halsey tell Jorge he was from Reach, or did he figure it out on his own? Either way, did he ever go looking for his family? If not, why?
*Jorge might have also picked it up hunting rebels in the field, but then I'd wonder whether local people would have recognized him from his youth. He's a pretty conspicuous dude, after all.
