September 10th, 2517 - April 2553
Alstad, Sansar and New Tyne, Venezia
Naomi Senstzke is a remarkably gifted young six-year old lady who's intellect is noticed by a program office identifying gifted children ran by the Colonial Administration Authority, though it is actually a front for an Office of Naval Intelligence retrieval team.
Staffan, Naomi's father, worries he can't afford the dollhouse his girl had been eying for quite some time. Instead, he buys her a holographic night light that projects the northern night sky of their home world, Sansar. He assures himself that she'll love the gift, being fascinated with astronomy, but promises to build her a dollhouse of her own.
Hours later, Naomi's mother, Lena, rushes home frightened that she can't find their girl. Lena and Staffan begin on foot searching for Naomi before the community and police joins the effort.
Naomi was captured by the retrieval team, and later wakes from sedation in-route to exfiltration. She manages to escape from her captors by attacking them and running into the wilderness. Naomi is later recaptured.
Lena comes home early next morning telling Staffan that Naomi had been found and is at the hospital. As the minutes, hours, and days pass, they find a shocked little girl unable to recollect anything. Staffan knows this isn't his Naomi.
Years later, after Naomi's clone replacement's passing, Lena falls into a terrible depression and takes her life. The Covenant later invade Sansar and Staffan escaped, with him a number of trinkets, including his baby's star lamp.
Staffan knew the government - Earth or colonial - was responsible for his baby's kidnapping. He'd later meet Andy Remo, father of Arthur-079, killed during the raid on the Third Fleet of Glorious Consequence, was a criminal teaching Staffan all that he knew.
Sometime after Sansar, Staffan married Laura, having two children of their own - a son, Edvin, following in his father's footsteps, and his innocent daughter, Hedda. Edvin married Janey and had a daughter, Kerstin, whom Staffan witnessed much similarities with his first daughter, Naomi. In 2553, he finished work on the dollhouse.
Late 2552
Reach
The children are scared and they just want to go home. They cuddle for warmth, consoling each other, all wanting to be back with their families. Naomi remains confident that her father is out there and will rescue her. Days after their arrival on Reach, Catherine Halsey speaks with each of the children, informing them that their parents know where they are and support Halsey's decision - there is no rescue.
