: they're not dead), a lack of Cortana, multiple existing Spartans, the
: "Janus key," the list goes on. 343 has done a good job at
: opening the gates further for a lot more storytelling.

Calling it: End point for the 343 universe is humankind taking up the mantle and the belief system that goes with it, effectively becoming the new forerunners and closing the cosmic circle.

At any rate, the current "state of the fiction" is way better than where it was between 2008-2010. Looking back, those years seem like a doldrums period with an across-the-board (games, novels, comics, those anime shorts I had almost forgotten about) fear of innovation. We were getting the same "Covies found a dangerous artifact, lets blow it up" story over and over, plus there was this weird trend of constantly introducing new characters and immediately killing them off. Even though the presentation is messy at times, I'm very happy that we once again don't know where all this is headed.
