The line is somewhat blurred when it comes to who is a professional gamer and who is a mere hobbyist, as a result of being so new and largely unregulated, compared to traditional pro sports. MLG is trying to apply an old business model to a new business, with debatable success. Pro gaming has no college drafts or farm leagues. Anybody can call themselves a pro, assemble a team, and enter a for-money competition. We can only wait and see how the sport evolves once it has been around as long as baseball or football.
