: Er... no. Listen to the narration - taken in context, he
: definitely means he didn't want to get stuck with the
: job of carrying one.

Will have to listen to that journal entry again, I suppose. But carrying the arrows does not mean he would be an archer. I'm sure they were a special bunch, and needed to be carried by someone who wouldnt die or lose them. But then again... *shrug*

: Good argument, he doesn't have to be a fir'Bolg. He
: doesnt really seem to definitely be anything.
: Narrator in manual is likely not the same as the narrator
: in the game. There's just nothing to connect the two.

Aye, you may be right there. The narrator in the manual is only talking about the war being in its 7th year. And I believe (not sure really) that the narrator we listen to during the game missions, mentions the war is nearing its 17th year. But you also have to find it odd that these two kept journal entries during the war. I'm sure not many did, for most died, or were too warped by what was happening to want to put it on paper.
There is one part in the manual entry that says,
"For the last week the camp has been abuzz with the rumor that the Nine have got their hands on something which can change the course of the war..... A talisman that will keep us alive, that will somehow give us the strength to outwit and outlast Balor?"
That sounds like its the Total Codex, or possibly the head? And i think both those items were retrieved during the 16-17th year of the war, so I'm not sure how Bungie planned this out.

: You're most likely right, but why would a common warrior
: end up having the Total Codex in the bottom of his
: pack?

Well, lets take into account that this guy who is writing the journal, has survived for the last 17 years of the war. That has to count for something. A survior in a war like this might make him a hero/champion, or atleast a higher ranking commander. You can bet that he was promoted into higher ranks with all his officers and superiors dying off sometime in that 17 year period.
