Or you wouldn't have to say anything if they recognized facial expressions, "I'll drive" (sees the expression on my face) "orrr maybe not", "don't kill me Chief".
Do you enjoy the weapon swap dances? chasing after a hyper-active marine, trying to get in front of him to trigger a weapon swap. Or how about the vehicle seat dance where all you want to do is to give a passenger a weapon - you eject him from the vehicle - do the weapon swap dance - then he gets in the driver seat and drives the vehicle over a cliff. Wouldn't it be nice to say, "take this weapon" and he just does it? he comes to you, takes the weapon and gets back in his seat.
What if you are in a hog and need to do some weapon scrounging: ask the driver to, "stay here" or "stay close" and he follows at a comfortable distance.
What if you could tell NPCs to get out of a vehicle and stay down. Maybe the vehicle stops being a target and has a better chance of still being drivable when you need it again.
How about changing positions in the hog on the fly? "Give me the gun","the wheel","shotgun!".
343i should craft custom animations that swap positions without having to perform a dismount, run around the vehicle and then remount. You should be able to switch positions whilst the vehicle is in motion.
It may also be possible to assign vehicle positions to the buttons. If (X) is mount/dismount then (Y) is driver, (B) is passenger and (A) is gunner. If the occupant of a position is an NPC then the button press is a command and it happens straight away. If the occupant is a player then it becomes a request that is accepted by the player pressing the button that corresponds to your position.
There are other obvious hog related voice commands.
Instructions to the driver, "stop","move".
Instructions to the gunner, "take out the Or how about, "Nobody fire until I give the word." as a general squad command in places where stealth would help?
Anyway, 343i should be looking at places where they can mitigate vehicular suck and make interacting with your allies more fun. Hire a really great AI team and see if they can polish this stuff.
On a vehicle related but non-NPC-command matter. When you board a vehicle - let the player clamber over the vehicle by changing the movement method. What I mean is: To make that work the devs need to create a clambering/climbing system. It could be reused for larger or static geometry as a way to climb on/around things.
