Think of it this way, Spider. If you playing as a female makes you uncomfortable, think of how all the female gamers must feel when 90% of the protagonists in games are generic white scruffy males? How many female protagonists can you name, that you could play as, besides Samus and Lara Croft?

In an industry that has one of the fastest growing female population, I think the developers should have more female protagonists. That also goes for LGBTQ characters and characters of different races. What we really need is more diversity in general.

Maybe then people wouldn't feel so uncomfortable playing as something besides the same white male soldier character? :P
