And a note on Prometheans
By:Dervish
Date: 12/6/13 1:44 pm

There are three main elements to a video game character: fictional role, appearance, and gameplay functionality. Characters work best when all three elements work together as a cohesive whole. For example, the fictional role of Grunts is to be goofy, cowardly enslaved soldiers that breathe methane. Their appearance as stocky, awkward guys with gas masks complements this background. Likewise, their gameplay role as cannon fodder reinforces both their fiction and look.

In contrast, the fiction, appearance and gameplay mechanics of the Prometheans seem to have been developed independently. Fictionally, they're damned human souls, which is neat, but their gangley limbs and skull faces don't match up with that at all. The way the Knights and Watchers interact and work differently whether you encounter them together or separately is neat, but again it isn't reinforced by story or art.
