: The only ads I have ever seen during gameplay of an installed (i.e. not
: browser-based) game on PC have been ads for microtransaction sales or
: packages in F2P games - these ads only appearing in menus or the in-game
: stores. Steam's advertising consists of a single popup that appears once
: per session (or day, not sure) after you close a game , which can be
: closed at the user's discretion. There are no adverts in the main UI,
: unless you go the Store, which only displays ads for sales and new games
: within the store. These adverts are typically cycle-through interactive
: "Featured..."-type sections, and only appear on the front page.
: Even Origin, much as you might expect EA to plaster ads everywhere, uses
: pretty much the same format as Steam.
Which is what Xbox/MS does.
So I ask again, What is the big deal?
You guys do realize that the $60 a YEAR we pay does not cover all the cost of online play, right? Especially when you count all the other features the service includes.
