Well, maybe. What you're calling "a few extra pixels" is a more than doubling of pixels which will have the side effect of reaching the native resolution of our television, eliminating scaling artifacts on top of the natural improvement in image quality with higher res. And that's hardly the only thing. I wouldn't be shocked at all if the versions of cross-platform games on the newer platforms tend to have stuff like vastly higher-quality shadow maps, decent anisotropic texture filtering (it's about time!), and lighting models cranked up in coverage and real-timeishness. Not to mention better performance, which is a gameplay concern on top of a visual one.
