There is little 343i can or should do that radically alters Palmer's character. If straying away from the comfort of idiocy is apparent in Initiation and Spartan Assault, it will be quite obvious that the writers sought to pander to detractors. Her positive influence on the Haloverse could be achieved through a natural slow-paced evolution.
Palmer can not continue being the overly aggressive, imposingly antagonist person we know her to be. Such an attitude only benefits her enemies whether they're pixelated fictional assets or behind the controller. A combat officer who remains stagnant in her conduct risks complacency on the parade deck and in the trenches. Even with her faults as a person and as a character, she can evolve - for her sake she needs to evolve.
