Re: What Went Wrong With the Prometheans (via Joys

I liked reading this. Pretty much all of what he's saying matches my experience with the Prometheans. There is a set pattern to how you approach every encounter, and always from as far away as possible. And it is hard to tell how close you are to killing a Knight, and it does take too many shots to kill watchers, considering that they run away immediately. The fact that they're aware of these things is good - it means they're likely to change in the next instalment. Might new problems develop? Sure. But it will still be moving in the right direction, at least in my opinion.

In some ways it reminds me of hearing Bungie talk about Halo 2's campaign. While I did enjoy it, there were some issues with the campaign which Bungie acknowledged. The insta-zap jackal snipers for example, or the fact that the brutes were just bullet sponges. And they did make clear efforts to address those issues in 3, efforts which I felt were largely successful.

And yeah, building a studio that size from scratch was bound to have some issues. Hopefully they're getting things sorted out.
